Scott Design created an online application that is almost identical to the desktop version of popular educational reading software.

Our client’s challenge:

StepWare, which offers a line of desktop computer software that helps people of all ages become better readers, wanted to create a web version of AceReader, its premier product. The online version would provide a subscription-based service to schools and allow educators and students to use the software at any computer in the school’s computer lab.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design created an online application that is almost identical to the desktop version of AceReader. The web version even uses configuration files and settings from the desktop version. Teachers can monitor students’ progress by viewing speed and comprehension graphs from any computer on the network.

Our client’s challenge:

Adobe wanted to promote special upgrade pricing for photo- and video-editing software products. The goals of the “tours” were to allow users to quickly and easily understand the value of the products, become inspired by the top features, and actively engage with the products by exploring all the features.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design produced online Flash “tours” that display new features in action and highlight price-slashing offers right in the welcome screen of trial and full-version products. The team combined animation, compelling imagery, and streaming videos in a series of online presentations that display the software’s top features. Each of the presentations included prominent, strategically placed calls to buy the product. Scott Design also created special “Black Friday” versions of the tours to promote a limited-time upgrade offer.

Our client’s challenge:

To show online sellers how to use a new listing process, eBay sought animated online demos that would explain the new flow. The goal was to provide mid– to high-volume sellers with clear, step-by-step instructions for using eBay tools to add and revise listings in the eBay online catalog.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design partnered with HDI to design and produce a series of easy-to-follow Flash demos—with corresponding PDF versions—that make it simple for anyone to add their products to the eBay online catalog. These step-by-step tutorials include animated screen views and narration that remove the guesswork. The end result is a fast and easy learning experience for sellers.

Our client’s challenge:

Adobe wanted a microsite as part of a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of the first version of Adobe’s Photoshop software. Adobe wanted to highlight the most important features and the developers that were involved in the 20 years since Photoshop was launched.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design developed a microsite that features an interactive timeline of Photoshop’s history. Users can either watch an animated presentation of the timeline or click to specific years to see product highlights. The timeline includes information about the history of Photoshop, the people who made the software, and the evolution of the interface and packaging. The site also features information to help visitors determine which Photoshop family product best fits their needs.

Scott Design developed a desktop app to allow educators to share how they use Adobe products in their classes with other educators, as well as connect with other leaders in this online education community.

Our client’s challenge:

Adobe needed a well-designed database-driven online application communicating with a SQL database to store and maintain activities, events, and expertise of the Adobe Education Leader program members. The database serves as a central repository to collect member data and report on the members’ progress.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design specified the application parameters by listening to the client to gain insights about necessities, and also the client’s customers to ascertain desirable features. Through this desktop app, educators can share how they’re using Adobe products in their classes with other educators, as well as connect with other leaders in this online education community.
Our client’s challenge:

LogLogic sought an overall rebranding, including a redesigned website, to more effectively promote its market leadership in Log Management and Intelligence. Beyond requesting a fresh, innovative look, easy-to-use navigation, and well-organized structure, site requirements included worldwide appeal to Enterprise and Mid-Market audiences and the inclusion of customer and partner video testimonials.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design developed a new web design and site organization that incorporated the vibrancy of a consumer site with the structure of an enterprise site to accurately present LogLogic as an innovative, fast-growing company and to help site visitors find information quickly. Scott Design also developed an online Flash demo to highlight product features and benefits. The content enables visitors to understand the LogLogic story in minutes and encourages them to dive deeper to learn more.

The Braemar Energy Ventures website has the energetic, upbeat feel of a modern company in a conservative industry.

Our client’s challenge:

Venture capital firm Braemar Energy Ventures, a leader in the energy technology sector, sought a new look and feel for its website. Braemar wanted to reflect its standing as a bold, well-established backer of innovative ventures. The firm wanted to highlight its successes with a website that would be more visually and contextually compelling than those of its competitors.

The Scott Design solution:

From the project’s onset, Scott Design’s creative team focused on producing an uncluttered website with a high-tech look and feel that engages visitors—without burdening them with industry clichés. From a technical standpoint, Scott Design focused on providing easy navigation with clear paths for the different audiences. Working closely with Braemar representatives, the website took shape as one with an energetic, upbeat feel of a modern company in a conservative industry. In only a click or two, visitors could get the answers they seek.

The new DFJ website features interactive cards that provide visitors quick and visually compelling ways to find information about DFJ team members, investments, and partner funds.

Our client’s challenge:

Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm, sought a new website that would set it apart from its competition. Through the Scott Design discovery process, we concluded that the new site should project DFJ’s global presence, segment the information on the site so different audiences can quickly access the information they seek, and have a look that reflects DFJ’s innovation and success.

The Scott Design solution:

Scott Design presented DFJ with several designs from which to choose, all meeting the requirements we developed during the discovery phase. The new, award-winning website features interactive cards that provide visitors quick and visually compelling ways to find information about DFJ team members, investments, and partner funds. Each page includes additional information in sections that can be opened or closed, allowing visitors to tailor the information they see.

“Working with Scott Design was a pleasure. They were efficient and kept my time to a minimum. Their design is bold, new, and portrays our message and our brand as if it came straight from our heads, only with more impact. It is light years better than anything any of our competitors have. They worked with our team as though they had been a part of it for years. The experience was the smoothest we have ever had with any outside vendor.” —Tim Draper, Founder and Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson
